Series of vertebrae like modules threaded on wire that together form the costume. This structure is robust but still incorporates the flexibility of the bone structure. The question is if it has the potential to emit symbolic messages and affect viewers emotionally.
Our aim with this project was to design and produce an experimental unorthodox concept costume that was designed without a specific character or a story and then test its effect on viewers and wearers. Then, based on the responses, to evaluate if the costume concept could be used or further developed and implemented to enhance the effect of a character or a story. Within the confines of this limited project that the above evaluation in this report strongly indicates that given the right context and circumstances, it can be feasible to use this or similar methodology to design a costume without a character and a story just to test out if the costume concept could be used in different situation inside or outside of a theatre.
